Ryan Spoonner: “Avant-garde managed to convert the majority well this time”

On October 16, Avangard confidently won at home in a KHL match with a score of 5:1 over Neftekhimik. Ryan Spooner, one of the Hawks’ goal scorers, assessed the game.

The forward also answered a question from MK in Omsk about how much his team gave their best this time.

– Today we were better, we were able to convert the power play well, after recently we had problems with it. Now it’s working. 5:1 – victory at home, that’s great. Next we are ready to leave.

– It was your trio that scored a lot of goals. How would you estimate how much of their maximum they were able to play today?

– I don’t dare estimate percentages, the main thing is that the team won. How exactly our line plays is secondary. The main thing is to win. Our unit simply does its job in attack, that’s the most important thing.

– During the meeting, the opponent either asked the judges for video reviews or discussed something with them. Was it unnerving?

“This is something we can’t control, we just have to wait.” If a goal is canceled after watching, you just need to go out, play on, score again.

– What can you say in general about the six-match home series that ended today?

– Apart from the game with Amur, when we lost disappointingly, we were a little sleepy there, then overall I’m satisfied. Because in general, if we had been asked before the series whether a result of five wins out of six games would suit us, we would have answered “yes.”
