Chinese mobile games have occupied up to 1/3 of the Russian market – RuStore
Mobile games from Chinese developers occupy 30-40% of the Russian market, said RuStore leading business development manager Maria Suina, speaking on the sidelines of the Industry Sharing Conference on Localized Growth in Russia on Wednesday in Beijing.
“The value of the Russian market for mobile games alone is estimated at $1 billion, of which 30-40% comes from games from Chinese developers,” Suina said.
She also noted that the number of applications in RuStore in 2023 exceeded 32 thousand, of which more than a quarter were from Chinese developers.
Suina reported that Chinese developers were given the opportunity to monetize their applications, including receiving funds in yuan. At the same time, users of Chinese applications on RuStore can pay for paid services of Chinese mobile applications in any convenient way, including cards, through the Russian Fast Payment System (FPS) and other channels.
Suina noted that Chinese application developers on the Russian market have received a number of ways to promote and attract new audiences.
RuStore is the official Russian mobile application store, developed by the VK corporation together with the largest Russian IT companies with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation. RuStore was launched in May 2022.
