At a meeting of the operational headquarters of the Oryol region, a decision was made to create a detachment of the people’s squad, which will help law enforcement agencies ensure security and law and order. How informed on his Telegram channel, Governor Andrey Klychkov, the detachment will be called the “Katukov Brigade” in honor of Marshal Mikhail Katukov, twice Hero of the Soviet Union. The Oryol region will be the first subject to collect militia, while not having a common border either with new territories or with foreign countries.

Future warriors will undergo combat training at the MIA training ground in the Oryol municipal district. They will be taught how to handle weapons, provide medical care and navigate the terrain. For this, the necessary sites will be equipped at the site. The governor instructed to complete all work by the end of July. Also for the brigade created a group on the VKontakte network, where a sample application for membership will be published.

Mr. Klychkov said last week that with the initiative form in the Oryol region, the people’s squads addressed him to combat veterans and simply caring citizens. The official is sure that the idea will be supported by many residents, patriots who want to get the necessary skills and, if necessary, provide assistance to law enforcement agencies.

There are volunteer people’s squads in other regions as well. In particular, militias in the Belgorod and Kursk regions, which, unlike the Oryol region, border on Ukraine, provide assistance in patrolling the territories to law enforcement agencies.
