Citizens of the Russian Federation wrote 1.5 million applications to the MFC of public services in connection with the increasing frequency of fakes about the collection of biometrics. The Mash Telegram channel writes about this, citing a source in the Russian government.

As the source notes, every hundredth Russian believed false information about the impossibility of refusing to take biometrics after August 31, 2023. Citizens were also concerned about the alleged potential ability of banks and telephone operators to record voices and use photos of clients without their consent.

The bulk of those who believed in the fake were unemployed residents of villages and small towns aged 55 to 65 years.

As a result of the panic, the work of the MFC in several regions of the country was destabilized. For example, in Nizhny Novgorod, pensioners lined up early in the morning to use the center’s services.

The text of the false message became popular within group chats, which is why the capital administration had to officially refute it.

“There are no restrictions on the right to refuse the collection and placement of biometric personal data in the Unified Biometric System. This can be done at any time,” said a message on the Moscow government portal.
