In 2023, Russia accounted for 21% of all world imports of tangerines
In the first nine months of 2023, more than 20% of all world imports of tangerines were brought to Russia. The data was published by the Rusprodsoyuz organization.
According to the source, over the nine months of last year, Russia took first place in the number of imported citrus fruits. The country imported 21% of world imports – that’s 406 thousand tons of tangerines.
The United States took second place in terms of purchased citrus fruits – they accounted for 13% of world imports (242 thousand tons). They are followed by Great Britain – 8% (153 thousand tons), and then France – 7% (138 thousand tons). The top five included Germany, which bought 107 thousand tons.
As it turned out, Russia purchased 8.4% more tangerines in 2023 than in 2022. The United States reduced imports by 22%. In total, Russia purchased tangerines worth $421 million.
