The press service of the mobile operator Beeline answered frequently asked questions from users about data confirmation. This will help subscribers maintain telephone communication and avoid problems with scammers. Every week, Roskomnadzor sends operators thousands of numbers that must be blocked if users do not confirm that their personal data is up to date. Telecom companies do a great job of informing customers and explaining what they need to do to stay connected and distinguish scammers from official employees of cellular operators.
According to the requirements of Federal Law No. 126 “On Communications”, mobile operators must provide services only to those subscribers and users of corporate numbers whose data is current. For example, if the user has changed his last name or passport, he is obliged to inform the operator about this. If the data has not been updated, then after 15 days the subscriber’s number will be blocked.
The press service noted that you can update personal data through the State Services portal or in person at the operator’s office. Information about the need for the procedure can be received via SMS, mobile application or the subscriber’s personal account. Users of corporate numbers can also update their data through the organization’s corporate communications officer. After this, you will need to confirm the use of the number through State Services.
Experts recommend being vigilant if someone calls and demands confirmation of information. Employees of mobile operators can only remind you of the need for confirmation and tell you about ways to update your data. You should not believe it if they offer to do everything remotely and ask you to provide codes from SMS received during the conversation. In all these cases we are talking about scammers.
If the subscriber uses a number registered to another person, then the owner of the contract for communication services must confirm the data. If the owner of the number is unknown, then you can re-register the number in your name by going through the alternative identification procedure at the mobile operator’s office.
