Registration of pensioner status is not carried out automatically. Dean of the Faculty of Law of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Vadim Vinogradov, told the agency “Prime” that such a wrong opinion is widespread among Russians.

He emphasized that the citizen himself is obliged to register his pension status. In this case, it is necessary to provide documents within strictly established deadlines. Specifically, one month before reaching retirement age, you should contact the Social Fund office and submit an application. “This can be done through the Social Fund website, sending documents by mail, as well as by personally visiting the MFC or using the State Services portal, telephone or the help of the employer,” the lawyer noted.

Review of documents takes 10 days, after which payments begin. Vinogradov warned that if documents are submitted late, Russians will face delays in pension payments.

Previously, it was announced that military pensions would be increased in Russia from October 1. Military personnel and persons equivalent to them (former employees of the Ministry of Defense, the Russian National Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, the Federal Security Service, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Federal Penitentiary Service, the customs service, the Ministry of Emergency Situations) will receive this pension.
