Russians watched YouTube the most on the Internet during the New Year holidays

During the New Year holidays, Russians spent most of their time on the Internet watching videos on YouTube – video hosting accounted for 20% of all Internet traffic, according to data MegaFon. In second place is VKontakte, which accounted for 14% of traffic. MegaFon took into account the data of its subscribers from January 1 to January 8, 2023.

The third place was taken by online cinemas (10%), with Kinopoisk being the most popular. Users spent 9.8% of their traffic on TikTok. Of the messengers, Telegram took the first place with 5.3% of traffic, WhatsApp (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned) accounted for 2%. Previously Telegram first overtook WhatsApp in terms of user traffic: by the beginning of 2023, Telegram’s share exceeded 60-80% of the total traffic in messengers.
