Russians issued 40% more passports in 2022

In 2022, more than 5.4 million foreign passports were issued to Russians. This is almost 40% more than in 2021. This was reported by TASS, RIA Novosti and Interfax, citing statistics from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in just a year, Russians issued 5,413,374 foreign passports. In 2021, 3,892,586 of them were issued.
The issuance peaked in March, when 553,000 international passports were issued. In April, 470,000 foreign passports were issued, in May – 359,000. In the summer, the number of issued documents began to grow again, by July it increased to 504,000. In the fall, the rate of issuance began to decline again – in September, 423,000 documents were issued. In December, the issuance grew to March figures – in just a month, more than 560 thousand foreign passports were issued.
According to the FSB, from July to September 2022, the number of trips abroad increased to 9.7 million, which is 1.2 million more than the same period in 2021.
