Russians heard different meanings in Simonyan’s words about a nuclear explosion over Siberia

The editor-in-chief of RT wrote a statement asking that a foreign agent, a former assistant to a Moscow City Duma deputy, be held accountable for libel. “Because he not only filed a complaint against me, but also wrote that I “proposed to launch a nuclear strike on the territory of the Russian Federation.” Of course, I did not and could not propose any such heresy. Such a monstrous accusation tarnishes my reputation and causes me all sorts of damage and suffering. For which we give up to two years in prison,” she noted.

Obviously, Siberians, who also heard a threat to their region in her words and were indignant, could also come under attack.

Or should they not believe their ears either?

How is it that in our country people are divided into different categories when they say one thing, but everyone perceives it differently?

It seems that at least representatives of two parallel species currently live on Russian territory. Perhaps this is an evolutionary process?

We speak the same language, but everyone has their own ethics, moral standards, understanding of the legal framework, and so on. And in the end, one does not hear or understand the other. It is as if the basis of life for some is oxygen, and for others nitrogen.

At a minimum, we need translators. So how did you hear Simonyan’s words?

I let my relative, a good man and for good, listen to her speech, and he said that she didn’t say anything like that about the explosion of a nuclear bomb over Siberia. What we all made up and said about her. He even cursed at me. Although he has known me for 35 years, but Simonyan doesn’t know me at all. In the end, they decided not to quarrel, although the issue was interesting and fundamental.

What did I hear?

…It was about an electronics engineer who told her about the harmlessness of thermonuclear strikes, about the gadgets of her children, which they do not have, and they are happy, and therefore let the rest not have them for happiness, about a return to 1993, when everything was lamp and beautiful, and also that if we do this to our native Siberia, then all the enemies will be scared and will do what we want, and there is nothing terrible in a nuclear explosion.

I even listened to it again, I think maybe I misunderstood something or missed something. No, that’s how it is.

In the perception of the relative, everything was completely different. He only heard about victory over enemies and the strength of Russia, and that all this was quite safe.

How so?

Remember, a couple of years ago people were shown a dress in a photo and asked: gold or blue. And some saw it as golden, while others saw it as blue. And this straight-up weird thing started on the Internet. People quarreled over the color of the dress, there were loud breakups and accusations of fakes. Psychologists predicted an almost existential crisis for all of humanity due to the difference in the perception of the color of the dress.

And the reason for such a double perception of the world, as neuroscientists found out, was an optical illusion, thanks to which the brain of some people sees not what is actually happening, but what it wants to see. I saw it at the first moment and captured it. And then he polishes off what is unnecessary, since it does not correspond to his established idea of ​​the world, and the brain wants to be whole. And I don’t want to change my mind.

Then there was another viral controversy. In May 2018, an audio recording surfaced in which 56% of more than 500,000 people who voted in a social media poll heard a man saying “Laurel” and 44% heard a woman saying “Yanni.”

The explanation was the same. People hear what they want to hear, and complete the picture so as not to end up with an existential crisis in one individual head.

Whoever is able to rise above this and realize the sometimes unpleasant (who wants to deceive themselves) truth is a great fellow. Some even hear both versions of the name alternately.

But maybe it’s because of the school physics course? I got an A in it at school. A relative has three. At Margarita’s – I don’t know.

I know for sure that the electromagnetic pulse that occurs when a nuclear (or thermonuclear) charge is detonated causes the failure of any devices operating on electrical energy. That is, it is not at all useful for nature, ecology and humans.

Therefore, naive dreams about switching to landline phones and returning to the “beautiful far away” forty years ago are simply wrong – everything generally breaks down. Including TVs.

Only carrier pigeons and sled dogs with drivers will remain. Well, and also radioactive fallout.

Also, a significant part of military devices (including satellite constellations of enemy countries), as is known, are designed with the expectation of using weapons that use electromagnetic pulses and are quite reliably protected. Therefore, such an explosion will first of all collapse civilian infrastructure.

And also from the physics course: EMR propagates in a straight line, which means that this damaging factor of an air explosion will cover only that surface of the Earth that is in the line of sight from the hypocenter of the explosion. The rest of the territory will be hidden by the curvature of the Earth. That is, after the explosion of a device “somewhere over Siberia,” the infrastructure of half of Russia will collapse, without damaging anyone else.

In this case, our enemies will twirl their finger at their temples and that’s all.

Now it remains to understand why, listening to the same Simonyan, we hear different things and evaluate them differently. Indeed, in the case of the dress, it turned out that those who saw it as blue were right and did not allow themselves to be confused by the first impression, no matter how truthful and the only true one it seemed.
