Few representatives of generations Y (born 1981–1996) and Z (born 1997–2014) are willing to endure hardships for the sake of career achievements, showed survey research center Superjob.ru. Among Russians aged 18-26 years (Generation Z), the majority of respondents agree to give up entertainment, limit communication with friends and work in unskilled positions (28% each); every fourth is willing to wait to start a family and have children. Every fifth respondent aged 27–42 years (generation Y) is ready to relocate and limit communication with friends, every sixth agrees to give up rest and entertainment, every seventh agrees to work with an irregular schedule. At the same time, a quarter of representatives of this age group do not want to make any sacrifices at all. Over the past two years, the proportion of respondents who are not ready to endure hardships for the sake of their career has increased in both groups.
It should be added that in addition to representatives of generations Y and Z, Superjob experts interviewed 500 managers who had already reached career heights. Among the sacrifices they had to make for this, they most often named long working hours (56%), nervous overstrain (50%), refusal of rest and entertainment (48%), long journey to the place of work (37%) and frequent separation from family (35%).
