Russian Bodnaruk won the World Rapid Chess Championship
Russian chess player Anastasia Bodnaruk won gold at the World Rapid Chess Championship in Samarkand.
Based on the results of 11 rounds, she, together with Humpy Koneru (India) and Lei Tingjie (PRC), scored the same number of points – 8.5 each. According to additional indicators, Bodnaruk and Koneru had an advantage. Then both played in a tiebreaker, where the Russian won – 2.5:1.5.
In the men’s tournament, the sixteenth world champion, Magnus Carlsen, took first place. The Norwegian has won the World Rapid Chess Championship for the fifth time.
