Russian chess player Anastasia Bondarchuk won the World Rapid Championship in Samarkand. She beat Indian athlete Humpy Koneru in a tiebreaker. Chinese Lei Tingjie took third place.
The women’s tournament was played in 11 rounds. The game is allocated 15 minutes with an additional 10 seconds per move starting from the first move. Following the results of 11 rounds, Bondarchuk, Koneru and Tingtse scored 8.5 points each. Taking into account additional indicators, Koneru and Bondarchuk received the right to play in a tiebreaker.
The World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship takes place from December 26 to 30 at the Congress Center on the territory of the Silk Road Samarkand complex, the prize fund of the tournament is $1 million.
