Russian woman becomes first organ donor in China

For the first time, a Russian woman has become an organ donor in China. The girl, who was declared brain dead, saved the lives of four people, including a 15-year-old girl suffering from kidney failure. The Chinese news portal “Renminwang” writes about this.
The liver and kidney transplant operation was performed on November 16 at Guangxi Medical University First Hospital. This is the first time that a Russian citizen has become an organ donor in China, the portal reports. It is also the first time in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region that a foreigner has become a donor.
Thirty-year-old Nika was admitted to the hospital on October 30 in serious condition, and later doctors diagnosed her as brain dead. Nika’s heart and breathing, according to doctors, stopped due to a massive pulmonary embolism.
Her husband, a Chinese citizen, said that his wife told him about the desire to donate her organs after death. “I decided to do this,” Ou Yang’s words are quoted by the portal. “Because it gives me the feeling that she is alive and next to me.” The husband also said that Nika’s mother gave her consent to transplant her daughter’s organs.
