The “evacuation” of the Kakhovka Historical Museum, which is a branch of the Kherson Museum of Local Lore, was reported by the Ministry of Culture of the Kherson Region, which is accountable to the Russian authorities. The transfer of the museum fund to the Crimea in the department was explained by the massive shelling of Kakhovka.
“Historical and cultural heritage, as a result of the decision taken, was also taken to Crimea to preserve their integrity,” the statement reads. Telegram channel Regional Ministry of Culture (author’s spelling preserved).
The report also provides data on the departure of most of the residents of Kakhovka to “safe territories” due to shelling, in which the ministry blames the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On November 15, the administration of Novaya Kakhovka (one of the cities closest to Kakhovka in the region) announced about leaving the city due to the strikes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Last week Russian troops were withdrawn from Kherson, the administrative center of the Kherson region, after which the authorities accountable to the Ukrainian government resumed work in the city.
