The Amur tiger brought a very large bear out of hibernation near Khabarovsk

In the Bolshekhehtsirsky Nature Reserve near Khabarovsk, an Amur tiger brought a brown bear out of hibernation ahead of schedule, reported the directorate of state natural reserves and national parks in the region.

It is reported that inspectors from the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Reserve Priamurye” found traces of a very large bear, which is rare for the winter period. Experts decided to trace the bear’s route to the den and find out the circumstances of its early awakening from hibernation.

“Presumably, the bear was lifted from the den by a tiger,” the reserve noted. “Next to the footprints of the clubfoot, the paw prints of an Amur tiger are clearly visible.”

District inspector Sergei Lagutin suggested that the bear was disturbed by a large male named Odyr.
