Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev reached the final of the US Open. In the 1/2 he defeated the first racket of the world, the current US Open champion, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz with a score of 7:6, 6:1, 3:6, 6:3. The meeting lasted more than three hours.
The last game lasted more than eight minutes. Alcaraz won back three match points in a row – two due to his own aggressive actions, one due to Medvedev’s mistake when hitting the line. The fourth turned out to be fatal for the Spaniard. The Russian smashed the ball into the court.
Medvedev previously lost to Alcaraz twice this season – in the semi-finals of Wimbledon and the final of the Masters in Indian Wells. The only time before that he beat Carlos in the second round of Wimbledon 2021.
Medvedev will face Novak Djokovic in the final. The Serb beat 20-year-old American Ben Shelton in three sets – 6:3, 6:2, 7:6.
