Russian special forces operating in Ukraine received new Chukavin sniper rifles

The Russians operating in Ukraine received a batch of the latest Chukavin army sniper rifles (SHF) for experimental combat operation.
This was told to journalists by a source in the military-industrial complex.
The special forces were armed with rifles chambered for the domestic sniper cartridge 7.62 by 54 millimeters.
SVCh-308 (Chukavin sniper rifle) is a Russian sniper rifle chambered for 7.62 × 54 mm. Designed to destroy single targets at ranges up to 1200 m. Produced by the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant.
The design of the rifle is based on a little-known small-sized machine gun by E. F. Dragunov (MA machine gun), developed in 1973 and is a curtain scheme. With this arrangement, all the main elements of the weapon are mounted on a solid top rail with 10 mm thick guides. All other elements can be unloaded and made of plastic or light alloys. In the classic schemes of SVD and AK, there are no upper guides, and the bolt frame moves along the lower ones, here it is the other way around – the bolt frame and the bolt move along the top rail.
The massive shaft, made by rotational forging, is attached to the tire through the liner, being at the same time a single rigid assembly. In addition to the gas chamber, there are no barrel fittings on the SHF-308 barrel
The lower part of the rifle contains a trigger housing with a fuse and a base with a magazine receiver.
Weapon automation works on the principle of powder gases removal with a short piston stroke and is borrowed from the reliable Dragunov rifle system. The rifle has a manual gas regulator.
Ammunition for weapons today is carried out with classic 7.62 × 54 mm cartridges and 8.6 × 70 mm ammunition. The weapon uses a magazine from SVD with a capacity of 10 rounds; there are also magazines for 15 and 20 rounds.
The SHF-308 rifle safety is located on both sides of the weapon, which ensures maximum ease of use of the weapon.
The rifle has a folding telescopic stock with an adjustable cheek piece.
