Eating cheese is useful for post-traumatic stress disorder syndrome, scientists from Chelyabinsk State University, Ural Federal University and the Institute of Experimental Medicine in St. Petersburg reported.
Olga Tseylikman, Dean of the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine of the Chel State University, said that PTSD is a severe mental disorder that some people experience after a life-threatening event.
Experiments on rats have shown that the inclusion of cheese in the diet reduces anxiety levels and increases the concentration of dopamine in the hippocampus, which is involved in the formation of long-term memory. Also, the use of cheese increased the activity of genes that affect the plasticity of neurons.
