As the press service of the Russian Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology reported, Russian scientists managed to come up with a way to completely self-destruct drones when they reach the enemy.
In a conversation with journalists, Dmitry Patrikeev, a researcher at the target search laboratory for advanced high-energy materials, clarified that in such a situation, destroying electronics alone may not be enough. Therefore, specialists worked on the possibility of controlled self-destruction of the entire drone or its critical components.
“The authors proposed the introduction of metal nanoparticles into the structure of polymer plastics that make up the body of the product. Metal nanoadditives… can be ignited by a compact laser. This will not only secure information in UAVs, but also create a new subtype of kamikaze drones,” says in a message from the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology.
