France allows sale of iPhone 12 after update that reduces radiation levels

The French authorities lifted the ban on the sale of the iPhone 12 after the manufacturer released an update that reduced the magnetic radiation of the phone. About it reports the French Frequency Agency (ANFR), which introduced the ban.
Apple recently released an update to the iOS17.1 operating system. It is claimed to reduce the electromagnetic radiation emitted by a smartphone when it is in your hand or pocket. But the update is only available in the European part of France, so the ban is still in effect in its overseas territories.
ANFR in September carried out two studies that showed that the iPhone 12 has an electromagnetic energy absorption rate of 5.74 W/kg (in contact with hands or head). In France, there is a standard according to which this indicator, indicating how much radiation affects human tissue per second, should not exceed 4 W/kg.
Following France’s temporary ban, Belgian regulators have also begun reviewing the health risks of the iPhone 12.
