Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russian scientists were able to come close to creating cancer vaccines. He expressed hope that in the near future these drugs will begin to be used for individual therapy.
“We are close to creating so-called onco-vaccines – vaccines against cancer and immunomodulatory drugs of a new generation. I hope that soon they will be effectively used as methods of individual therapy,” the president said at the plenary session of the Future Technologies forum.
Vladimir Putin noted that in total in 2023, 530 drugs developed by Russian scientists were registered. The production of many types of Russian equipment was also started, in particular, for cardiovascular surgery, rheumatology, rehabilitation and other areas.
According to the Ministry of Health, by February 2023, the number of Russians with cancer was about 4 million. Every year, Russian doctors identify about 600 thousand new cancers. In 2018, 3.7 million people lived in Russia with some kind of cancer.
