Russian schools will study the use of UAVs – Kommersant

The subject “Fundamentals of Security and Defense of the Motherland” (OBZR) will include information about combined arms combat. Schoolchildren will be taught about the methods of using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Draft order of the Ministry of Education published on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts. The document states that as part of the study of general combat warfare, schoolchildren should develop “an idea of ​​modern combined arms combat; understanding of the possibilities of using modern achievements of scientific and technological progress in modern combat conditions, including methods of combat use of UAVs.”

Also at the OBZR they will study the role of Russia in the modern world, military threats, and the role of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The result of the study should be, among other things, “the formation of the required level of military knowledge as a factor in building a professional trajectory, including for admission to educational organizations that train personnel in the interests of defense and security of the state, ensuring law and order.”

The subject “Fundamentals of Security and Defense of the Motherland” should replace “Fundamentals of Safe Living” (FS) in schools from September 2024. This course will strengthen the basic military training module, which is already being implemented within the framework of life safety. Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov previously toldthat high school students, among other things, will be taught how to counter unmanned aerial vehicles.
