The academic year in Russian schools will begin on September 1 in full-time format, with the exception of some educational institutions located in the emergency zone and border areas, said Russian Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov. All schools will need to ensure that they comply with the minimum requirements of Rospotrebnadzor for the prevention of COVID-19.
“In general, our education system — schools, kindergartens, colleges — is ready (for the upcoming academic year. — “b”)… I am sure that September 1 will take place as much as possible in full-time mode everywhere, with the exception of those schools that are, for objective reasons, either in flooding or in the border (with Ukraine. — “b”) territories, but these are few, and the educational process will also be organized there,” said Mr. Kravtsov during a speech via video link at the plenary session of the regional educational forum “PRO.Education 64.Vectors of development” in Saratov.
Sergey Kravtsov also noted that with the beginning of the academic year, the issue of compliance with the requirements of Rospotrebnadzor for the prevention of COVID-19 incidence remains relevant. All educational institutions are required to comply with minimum infection prevention requirements, including ventilating rooms and taking temperature regularly. The day before, Rospotrebnadzor did not recommend resuming restrictive measures in educational institutions, however, an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 is recorded throughout the country. In mid-August, the share of more contagious omicron variants (BA.4 and BA.5) in Russia increased to 38.86%.
The Minister said that on September 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the new all-Russian movement of children and youth “Big Change”. According to him, in the work of the movement “there should not be any kind of obligation”, it is necessary to take into account the opinion of the schoolchildren themselves.
The early Ministry of Education introduced a patriotic lesson “Conversations about the Important” into the school curriculum, within which issues related to the history of the city and the region, historical figures and moral qualities of a person will be discussed. According to Sergey Kravtsov, the first lesson will take place on September 5, 2022.
