Forum “Science of the Future – Science of the Young”

Four first, one second and one third place were given to students and graduate students of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov based on the results of his speech at the VII All-Russian Youth Forum “The Science of the Future is the Science of the Young”, which ended in Novosibirsk.
The selection of the winner and prize-winners of the forum lasted for several months. The competition jury selected 61 finalists from 2,500 thousand entries in ten scientific sections, in particular, physics, chemistry, materials science, ecology, life sciences, mathematics and computer science, sociology, energy, food technology and the humanities. Moreover, as the jury members noted, this year the level of competitive works would be much higher than last year.
According to the Chairman of the Program Committee of the Forum, Professor of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University Dmitry Ivanov, the projects of students and graduate students can be very important for the development of domestic science. And, for sure, they will become the basis for further promising developments that can solve a number of key tasks in the modern world.
One of such promising developments will most likely be the project of a student of the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov Andrey Kobelev. His work has a rather complicated title – “Optimization of conditions and study of the reaction mechanism of a photoredox-catalyzed three-component thiol-in-ene coupling” and makes organic synthesis simpler and more accurate. According to the results of the forum Andrey Kobelev won the first place. Also, the best of the best was the master student of the Faculty of Materials Science Elizaveta Gusarova. Her work was called “Ultra-thin hybrid materials based on graphene oxide and polydiacetylene derivatives for photovoltaic applications.” Elizabeth proposed a method for obtaining thin films that generate an electric current under the action of sunlight. Under certain conditions, the result is a self-assembly of the material with the desired parameters.
No less interesting for society will be the work of Ekaterina Astakhova, a postgraduate student of the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University, which was called “Virus-neutralizing activity of antibodies in patients who have recovered from COVID-19”. Based on her research, the graduate student concluded that approximately six months after the disease, virus-neutralizing antibodies remain in the peripheral blood, and therefore the immunological memory indicators do not depend on the severity of the disease.
