The Ministry of Education is going to introduce a weekly menu of hot meals for primary school students, TASS reported on Tuesday, citing the first deputy head of the ministry, Alexander Bugaev.
The official explained that they intend to include certain products in the menu for students in grades 1-4. Bugaev also noted that the Ministry of Education has an automated system for monitoring the composition of the menu, which is provided in schools.
According to him, representatives of the ministry daily monitor changes in prices for hot meals. Thanks to this, it was possible to identify the need to change the subsidy for school meals in two regions of Russia, money for this has already been allocated.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed organizing free hot meals for all schoolchildren from first to fourth grades. In 2021, Putin called on the Ministry of Education to allow the parents of students to control the quality of food in schools and recommended creating all conditions for conducting sanitary inspections of hot meals in educational institutions.
