The peacekeepers are serving 826 people who cannot return to their homes, including 440 children. “The military personnel of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone ensured the delivery of humanitarian cargo for the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh,” the statement said.
Over 50 tons of food rations, hygiene kits, etc. were delivered to Stepanakert by freight transport.
“The Russian peacekeeping contingent maintains continuous interaction with Baku and Stepanakert, aimed at preventing bloodshed, ensuring security and compliance with humanitarian law in relation to civilians, as well as ensuring the safety of the Russian peacekeeping contingent,” the Ministry of Defense reports.
On September 19, Azerbaijan announced the start of “anti-terrorist measures” necessary for the “restoration of the constitutional order” in Nagorno-Karabakh. The next day, Karabakh authorities announced the conclusion of agreements on a complete ceasefire. Later this information was confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense. On September 21, negotiations were held in Yevlakh between the delegation of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and representatives of the Azerbaijani authorities.
Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia is ready to accept refugees from Karabakh, but at the moment, according to the authorities, there is no direct threat to the civilian population of the region.
