Russian Muslims called Patriarch Kirill “dear brother”

The head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SDM), Mufti Ravil Gainutdin, said at a meeting of the Interreligious Council of Russia that the administration awarded Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ the highest award of Russian Muslims – the Order of Al-Fakhr. The published message states that the head of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) was recognized for his many years of work in the name of the unity and cohesion of the peoples of the country. In his address, the mufti called Patriarch Kirill “dear brother.”
Gainutdin recalled that followers of Christianity and Islam share common values, which are goodness, love, mercy, justice and mutual respect. The head of the Muslim Spiritual Directorate added that now is precisely the moment when the country needs to strengthen the union of Orthodoxy and Islam.
