The Sverdlovsk Regional Court reduced the period of stay in a colony for Alapaevsk City Duma deputy Ilya Chizh by one month. The reason for the reduction of his sentence was his participation in the SVO. The court channel published information about this on Telegram.
Now Ilya Chizh, who was found guilty of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm, must spend 1 year and 11 months in prison. The court also took into account his military awards.
Previously, Chizh denied the accusations against him, calling them “nonsense.” He did not appear at the announcement of the verdict, after which he was put on the wanted list. Later it became known that he joined the Wagner PMC. During the trial, Chizh asked the Wagnerites several times, but he was refused due to the lack of a court decision. However, after the verdict was announced, the PMC still allowed him to join its ranks.
The court previously sentenced the deputy to two years in a general regime colony, recognizing that Chizh beat two people with a baseball bat in April last year in one of the courtyards of Alapaevsk. One of the victims said that Chizh ran over his leg with his car, after which he got out of the car and hit him twice with a bat. His cousin tried to protect the man, but a fight broke out with him. The victim was diagnosed with fractures of the skull and cheekbone.
