On August 14, the Russian military lifted a MiG-29 fighter into the air after detecting a Norwegian patrol aircraft approaching the Russian border over the Barents Sea. About it informs Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

“In order to identify an air target and prevent violation of the state border of the Russian Federation, a MiG-29 fighter from the air defense forces of the Northern Fleet was taken into the air,” the report says.

The plane flying towards the Russian border turned out to be a Norwegian P-8A Poseidon. As soon as the Russian fighter jet approached it, the foreign aircraft turned away from the Russian border. As a result, no violation of the Russian border was allowed, the department stressed.
