Russian tennis player Alina Korneeva defeated compatriot Mirra Andreeva in the final of the junior Australian Open. The match ended with the score 6:7 (2:7), 6:4, 7:5.
Korneeva takes 15th place in the junior ranking of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), Andreeva – 14th place. Both athletes are 15 years old. The last time a representative of Russia won the junior Australian Open in 2014 (Elizaveta Kulichkova).
The Australian Open takes place in Melbourne. It will end on January 29th. In the final among women, the representative of Kazakhstan Elena Rybakina, who until 2018 represented the Russian Federation, and the Belarusian Arina Sobolenko will play. Novak Djokovic (Serbia) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece) will play in the men’s final.
