Gymnasts from Russia lost the opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris
Russian athletes have lost the opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris after they missed the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku. This is evidenced by the documents of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
It is noted that domestic athletes could qualify for the Olympics if they successfully perform at the stages of the 2024 World Cup. Those who will receive Olympic licenses are determined by the best results, which are shown at three out of four stages.
Previously, gymnasts from the Russian Federation had already missed the World Cup stages in Cairo and Cottbus, Germany in February, and on March 7, the third qualifying stage started in Baku, among the participants of which there were also no Russian athletes. Due to missing three out of four stages, the Russians lost the opportunity to claim enough points to travel to Paris.
