Russian Foreign Ministry rejects UN proposals to resume grain deal

Four new proposals by UN Secretary General António Guterres on a grain deal cannot form the basis for progress towards normalizing Russia’s agricultural exports. This is stated in the statement of the Russian diplomatic department.

As noted in the diplomatic department, now the UN has shared four “breakthrough” proposals – SWIFT for the “daughter” of the Russian Agricultural Bank, the creation of an insurance platform, the unblocking of foreign assets of companies from Russia and the establishment of access for Russian ships to European ports. In return, the Russian side must provide guarantees for the immediate and full restoration of the Black Sea initiative.

At the same time, in fact, the current proposals of UN experts do not contain any new elements, as a result of which they cannot become the basis for achieving progress on the normalization of Russian agricultural exports, the Russian Foreign Ministry clarified.
