According to the court, the inclusion of Pumpyansky on the sanctions list is “justified as he can be classified as a leading businessman working in sectors of the oil and gas industry that provide a significant source of income for the Russian government.”
TASS announced that the court rejected similar claims by the owner of the Volga Group investment group Gennady Timchenko, the ex-head of Yandex Tigran Khudaverdyan, and the owner of the Safmar group Mikhail Gutseriev.
EU sanctions imply an asset freeze and a ban on European individuals and entities from providing funds to those subject to restrictive measures. In addition, blacklisted people cannot enter the EU and cross its territory.
