Russian aviation shot down a Ukrainian Su-24 aircraft in the Odessa area, three more aircraft and one Mi-8 helicopter were shot down over the past 24 hours by air defense systems, reported press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“The fighter aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down a Ukrainian Su-24 aircraft near the city of Odessa. During the day, air defense systems shot down: a Su-24 aircraft, two Mig-29 aircraft and a Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force,” the message says.
In addition, over the past 24 hours, Russian forces intercepted four HARM anti-radar missiles, two Neptune anti-ship cruise missiles and a HIMARS multiple launch rocket system. In different areas of the DPR, LPR and Zaporozhye region, 23 drones were destroyed, the defense department added.
In addition, the Russian Armed Forces destroyed ammunition and fuel depots of the Ukrainian Air Force in the Krivoy Rog area at the Dolgintsevo airfield.
Since the beginning of the Russian military special operation, the Ukrainian Air Force has already lost 500 aircraft, the Ministry of Defense previously reported. On October 20, the department said that over the previous day, Russian air defense systems shot down seven Ukrainian Mig-29 aircraft, and over the week the total number of downed aircraft was 12, of which 10 Mig-29 and two Su-25 attack aircraft. Two Mi-8 helicopters were also shot down.
