Russian footballer Andrei Panyukov shared his impressions of how Russians are treated in Lithuania, his words leads Sport24.
According to Panyukov, in 2017, when he played for the Lithuanian team Altantas, he encountered manifestations of Russophobia. The footballer shared that he was not allowed to visit some establishments, and they also refused to communicate with him in Russian.
He gave an example of one situation when he and a friend were talking in Russian, walking down the street, and a woman of about 30 stopped in front of them, asking why they were speaking in Russian. When they answered that they were Russians, she said: “Then go to Russia.”
Such cases, according to Panyukov, caused negative emotions and created unpleasant moments.
On September 15, Lithuanian President Nausėda deprived the winner of the World and European Figure Skating Championships Margarita Drobyazko of her citizenship because of her performance in Tatiana Navka’s show. Drobyazko stated that she would appeal this decision.
