Russian clothing brands must learn to compete with goods from China and Turkey

“The law of the market – the desire of the consumer” – under this motto, the All-Russian Industry Forum of Light Industry “Manufactura 4.0” was held in Moscow.

Russian brands are now trying to actively replace imported goods. To do this, it is necessary to attract investors, increase the production of fabrics, develop the “industry” of seamstresses – they are now sorely lacking, create their own production facilities, and also come up with new ways to promote brands and new cooperation strategies. The participants of the Manufactura 4.0 forum, including representatives of federal and regional authorities, financial institutions and banking structures, retail specialists, designers, manufacturers, retail chains, spoke about what measures are necessary to effectively support business.

According to Vera Khmyrovov, Director of the Department of Light Industry and Timber Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the unification of the light industry community will attract new investors interested in producing new fabrics for the consumer segment, which are needed by an actively growing number of Russian manufacturers.

“Establishing a strong connection between all market participants, such as retailers, designers and manufacturers, allows us to provide the synergy of light industry that is necessary to reach a new level,” the director of the department specified.

President of the Russian Union of Textile and Light Industry Entrepreneurs Andrey Razbrodin confirmed that today there are no secret rules and special mechanics for creating a brand – this is an absolutely understandable task.

“A more important point is the presence of an industry so that those who develop a brand, create design bureaus, make designs, maintain serious marketing or logistics services, have the opportunity to produce all this,” said Andrey Razbrodin. — For this, market participants need special programs and state support, and in the near future there should be a transition from support measures to development measures in order to quickly start moving forward.

Forum participants noted that now is the best time in Russia to create new promising enterprises at new sites and attract funding. They agreed to create effective sales channels and formats, conduct consumer demand analytics, update marketplaces and shopping centers. And try to compete more actively with manufacturers from China and Turkey, who are gradually entering the Russian market.
