Armenian police detained a 23-year-old Russian citizen in the center of Yerevan

A 23-year-old Russian citizen, Yuri T., was detained on Nar-Dos Street in the center of the capital of Armenia. At home, he was put on the wanted list for desertion. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.

The department clarified that the evader was detained on April 7. Information about this was promptly transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation. Military surveillance was chosen as a preventive measure against the young man.

According to Article 337 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, desertion during the period of mobilization or martial law, in conditions of armed conflict or combat operations can be punished by imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.

Earlier it became known about the detention of a Russian citizen liable for military service on Belarusian territory. According to the head of the information and public relations department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, Natalya Sakharchuk, Alexei Moskalev, a native of the Tula region, ended up in the pre-trial detention center. Earlier, he was sentenced by a Russian court to two years in prison for discrediting the Russian armed forces. At the time of the appeal against the verdict in Russia, he was left under house arrest, from which he escaped.
