Russian cardiac surgeons removed a shell fragment from a soldier’s heart

In the hybrid operating room, the location of the fragment was determined using angiographic equipment.

“On the stopped heart, the apex was opened with a small incision and a fragment was found in the trabeculae of the apex of the left ventricle,” the details of a unique surgical intervention performed at a military hospital were revealed. — The operation went well, the patient is alive, in the morning he began to breathe on his own. Hemodynamics is stable.”

It is reported that the operation was performed by the head of the center for cardiac surgery, MD, Professor Alexander Lishchuk, along with an excellent team of doctors. It is known that three more patients with shrapnel wounds of the heart are awaiting surgery at the Vishnevsky Center. The circumstances under which they received such injuries are not specified.
