Newspaper Vedomosti reported that the council of bloggers under the Federation Council wrote and sent letters to Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which he asked to review the blocking of social networks Facebook and Instagram (recognized as extremist in Russia and banned).
The letter notes that restricting access to the above social networks “has negative consequences for bloggers from Russia and risks for the whole country.”
“After the blocking, users from Russia lost the opportunity to create various content that is aimed at defending the interests of our country. At the same time, the Russian Federation has lost an effective channel for the formation of a positive image,” the authors of the article say.
According to the publication, the authenticity of these letters was confirmed by the coordinator of the council of bloggers Valeria Rytvina. However, Dmitry Medvedev’s spokesman said the letter had not yet been received.
