Russian athletes were not allowed to attend the Olympics in Paris

The International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics) has not changed its position regarding the ban on the participation of Russian athletes in the Olympic Games. The head of the organization, Sebastian Coe, spoke about this on Friday, December 8.
The sports official was asked for a comment in connection with the decision of the International Olympic Committee to admit Russian athletes to the 2024 Olympic Games in a neutral status.
Coe stressed that World Athletics has not lifted the suspension of Russian athletes, so Russia will not be represented at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in athletics competitions, despite the IOC decision.
In the meantime, acting Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvey Bedny called the IOC’s decision irresponsible and promised to discuss it with the sports community and the highest political leadership of his country.
Official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova, commenting late publication of admission criteria athletes from Russia, said that “nothing surprises her for a long time, since I know the goal of those who do this – to cause us as much damage as possible in everything.”
