Russian Ambassador to Germany urged not to exclude the possibility of deliveries of German Taurus to Ukraine

The German authorities make official statements in which they reject the possibility of delivering Taurus long-range cruise missiles to Kyiv, but it cannot be ruled out that Berlin may cross this “red line” as well. This statement was made by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev. His words are given in the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission.

“It should not be ruled out that Germany will cross this “red line” as well. Illusions about a possible change in the German approach to the Ukrainian conflict and a sudden realization of the risks of escalation associated with the use of long-range missiles are difficult to feed,” he said.

The ambassador noted that Berlin is “upset by the slippage” of the Ukrainian offensive, but does not want to admit “its mistakes.” In this regard, Germany continues to supply Ukraine with weapons, hoping for a change in the nature of hostilities in favor of Kyiv.

Moscow condemns pumping Ukraine with new types of weapons, Nechaev stressed. The diplomat added that this “only prolongs the conflict and increases the number of victims.”

11 August magazine Der Spiegel informedthat the German government is studying the possibility of supplying Ukraine with long-range Taurus cruise missiles in the coming months. According to the publication, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants to technically limit the programming of missiles in order to exclude the possibility of UAF strikes on Russian territory. Reuters source also confirmedthat the German authorities are negotiating this with the European company for the production of missile systems MBDA.

At the end of May it became known that Ukraine requested Germany has a supply of Taurus missiles. According to Der Spiegel, Germany bought about 600 Taurus 10 years ago, of which only 150 missiles can now work. July 2 German Chancellor Olaf Scholz declaredthat Germany does not want to supply Ukraine with long-range weapons, as it fears possible strikes with these weapons on Russian territories.
