Russian 3D printer ready to produce parts in space

The Russian 3D printer on the ISS, created by the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation (part of the Roscosmos Group of Companies), is ready for work, TASS reports with reference to its special correspondent, cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev.
According to him, turning on the printer was successful. Also prepared for printing. Now the crew members are waiting for the material for the printer, which is to be delivered on the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft in September. After that, the first experiments on creating parts in space will begin.
Earlier, the astronaut reported that at first they would try to print simple cubes on a 3D printer, and then students would connect, who would draw details in a special program, and their drawings would be sent to the station. The ISS astronauts will then load the schematics into a 3D printer and print out the details.
The 3D printer delivered the Progress MS-20 spacecraft to the ISS in June. The first experiments should be carried out by cosmonauts Oleg Artemiev and Denis Matveev. The samples obtained by 3D printing will be returned to Earth to check the characteristics of the resulting products.
