Russia promised to sue if Scythian gold is transferred to Ukraine

Russia will appeal to an international court if the Netherlands transfers Scythian gold to Ukraine. This was stated by the special representative of the Russian President for international cultural cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoy.
“We believe that the decision of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands was made under serious political pressure, we consider it politically insignificant. Perhaps even we, despite all our difficult relations with international courts, will appeal to the international court,” he said.
According to him, the decision to transfer gold to Ukraine is “infinitely politicized”; the exhibits should return to the Crimean Museum, with which the contract was concluded.
The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine previously reported that an agreement had been reached with Amsterdam on the transfer of gold. However, the University of Amsterdam, which oversees Allard Pearson, where the gold is exhibited, has not yet confirmed this information. Scythian gold was transferred by the Ukrainian side to the museum for exhibition in 2013.
