Deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation are ready to discuss expanding the list of grounds for depriving previously acquired Russian citizenship. This was announced by the deputy head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Artem Turov.
He recalled that the new citizenship law, which came into force in April last year, mentions 70 offenses for which a person is deprived of citizenship.
“If additional proposals are received from the media, citizens, civil society on certain types of offenses, they must be added if they are not in the current law,” the parliamentarian said.
In addition, Turov noted that today there is a special regime that is associated with the fight against terrorism, extremism, the security of the country and its citizens, allowing employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to deprive a person of previously acquired Russian citizenship when law enforcement agencies receive relevant letters and documents from state security agencies .
