Russia may block the American music service Last.fm, informed RT with reference to the source. Roskomnadzor confirmed this information to Vedomosti.
According to an RT source familiar with the situation, the platform’s management has repeatedly ignored the demands of Roskomnadzor to remove tracks that discredit the special operation and the Russian army. If these materials are not removed in the near future, then the American service may be fined up to 4 million rubles. or completely blocked in Russia.
This is not the first time Last.fm has been blocked in Russia. In particular, in May 2019, users complained to block the service. One of the users contacted his provider Dom.ru on Twitter, attaching a screenshot to the message, according to which, when trying to access Last.fm, a message pops up on his screen that access to the resource is limited on the basis of the law “On Information, Information Technologies and on the protection of information. Dom.ru responded by referring to the Ministry of Justice’s federal list of extremist materials. It follows that one of the pages on Last.fm. included in the list by decision of the Khabarovsk court of 2017.
In 2015, Roskomnadzor also blocked last fm. This was due to the decision of the court in Kirov, according to which the track “Kill the Cop” by the Psyche group was recognized as banned in Russia.
