Geophysicist Lyubushin predicted a strong earthquake in Japan in the next three months

Aleksey Lyubushin, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Chief Researcher of the Laboratory of Physics of Probing Mass Oscillations, IPE RAS, spoke about “Gazete.Ru”that in the next three months a strong earthquake could occur off the southern coast of Japan, which could affect the Kuriles and Kamchatka.

According to the expert, Japan is currently in a dangerous situation due to the fact that during the period from March to May of this year, a very strong earthquake may occur in the ocean off the southern part of Japan. The main danger in this case, as Lyubushin noted, is a tsunami, and if we proceed from the expected location of a seismic event, then it can also affect the Japanese capital Tokyo, which, in turn, can lead to heavy casualties.

The geophysicist explained that his forecast is based on the analysis of seismic noise throughout the Earth and Japan in particular. He clarified that Japan has an open database based on the readings of 78 seismic stations that record vibrations of the earth’s surface, and this information formed the basis of the calculation. These fluctuations, according to Lyubushin, are connected in a certain way with the preparation of earthquakes.

The expert added that the parameters of seismic noise change with the length of the day, and he found a correlation between the spike in the response of seismic noise properties to the length of the day and seismic energy releases. Lyubushin stressed that first there is a surge, after which, after 430 days, an outburst occurs, and it just happens in March. According to the geophysicist, the peak he recorded was formed at the end of last year for Japan and the whole world, so earthquakes can occur in other places.

Lyubushin concluded that if an earthquake does occur in Japan, it will be very strong and could affect both the Kuril Islands and Kamchatka, although it is “far away.”
