Russia is discussing mutual recognition of education with 11 Latin American countries

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation is studying the possibility of preparing draft agreements on the mutual recognition of educational documents with 11 other Latin American countries, Deputy Minister of the Ministry Konstantin Mogilevsky said at the first international parliamentary conference “Russia – Latin America”.

We are talking about the possible preparation of draft agreements with Argentina, Mexico, Haiti, Guyana, Guatemala, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Panama and Paraguay. Now agreements are in force, according to Mogilevsky, including with Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Peru and Colombia, and by the end of the year a similar agreement may be signed with El Salvador.

“Cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean countries in the field of education developed during the Soviet Union. A significant number of Latin American students, we estimate about 53,000, received education in our country, mainly in engineering,” told Mogilevsky (quote from TASS).

Now, according to the ministry, 5,000 students from Latin American countries are studying at Russian universities.

On September 30, during the conference “Russia – Latin America”, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin called expand cooperation between Russia and Cuba in the field of education.

The international parliamentary conference “Russia – Latin America” takes place from September 29 to October 2 in Moscow. During the conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia and Latin American states have a lot in common in their views on international issues. In his opinion, Latin American countries are showing success in forming a multipolar system of international relations based on equality, justice, respect for international law and each other’s legitimate interests.
