Russia handed over five servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to Ukraine, informed Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova in her Telegram channel.
“Today, five wounded servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been repatriated to Ukraine. We continue to work in this direction,” she wrote.
Moskalkova recalled that at the end of March, the Ukrainian side handed over five seriously wounded Russian servicemen to Russia. They are currently undergoing treatment, she added. In Kyiv, speaking about the transfer of the Russian military, then clarified that it is not about exchange, but about repatriation, “as provided for by international humanitarian law.”
Previous exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine took place March 7th. It was planned according to the formula 160 to 160, but the Ukrainian side agreed to exchange only 90 people. Then Moskalkova said that the negotiation process continues and the services are fighting “for each of our guys.” Later, the Ombudsman published a list of 70 soldiers whom Kyiv refused to accept.
On March 31, Moskalkova announced that Ukraine does not answer Russia about the inclusion of military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the lists for the exchange of prisoners, and thereby disrupts the next exchange.
