Russia announced the development of the first vaccine against rotavirus

The first rotavirus vaccine in the Russian Federation was developed by scientists from the Rostov Research Institute of Microbiology and Parasitology of Rospotrebnadzor, the ministry said.
“At the moment, clinical trials of the drug are being completed,” – the message says on the official page of the department in VKontakte. It is planned to start production in 2023.
To date, vaccination against rotavirus infection, as noted, is included in the National vaccination calendar for epidemiological indications.
Rotavirus is an acute intestinal infection that can occur at any age. Most often, it affects young children aged 1.5 to 2 years.
The causative agent remains viable for a long time both in open water bodies and in the pool.
Infection can occur when sneezing or coughing. However, the main route of spread of rotavirus infection from person to person is through contaminated objects, unwashed hands and food.
